Crinipan® PMC green - next generation dandruff control

Cosmetic anti-dandruff products can be easily characterized by the use of three ingredients: zinc pyrithione, climbazole and piroctone-olamine. All three actives show anti-fungal efficacy, targetting Malassezia. At the same time all have been established actives on the personal care ingredients market for decades. Besides of a couple of multifunctionals, no major anti-dandruff active has been launched recently. Serving the demand for new green chemistries, Symrise presents an entirely new anti-dandruff technology, relying on an innovative mode of action. In the footsteps of climbazole (Crinipan® AD), the next generation plant derived anti-dandruff active will be presented.

Consumers acknowledge that the notion of wellbeing is a multifaceted one, incorporating not only individual physical health but also mental, social, occupational and environmental health. • Taking care of melatonin release for a healthier skin Jun 19 2020 6:00 am UTC 30 mins
BonWook Koo, Senior Account Manager Korea, Givaudan
Sleeping is one of the most important beauty secrets. Overnight, our skin is regenerating thanks to the action of melatonin, well-known to preserve skin youth from oxidative reactions and enabling rejuvenation processes. However, its release may be impaired by excessive digital stress exposure, causing premature skin ageing. We developed a botanical complex able to avoid perturbation in the melatonin production rhythm, even when skin is exposed to digital devices. Indeed, at a clinical level we demonstrated that our phytoactive can reverse signs of ageing, fight against deleterious effects of digital stress and improve the sleep quality of volunteers versus placebo.

  • PhytoCodine® - Natural Messenger Peptides to Reprogram Skin Structure Jun 16 2020 7:30 am UTC 30 mins
Dr. Ulrike Baetz, Marketing Director, Lipoid Kosmetik AG
A person’s perceived age is determined by physical traits on face and neck. These traits mostly reflect the integrity of the extracellular matrix, which provides structure, homogeneity and elasticity to skin.

Matrikines are dermal messenger peptides that instruct skin cells to reorganize and build-up the extracellular matrix. So far, synthetic matrikines have been used in cosmetics. Now, Lipoid Kosmetik investigated and isolated for the first time natural matrikine-like peptides from cedar nuts and presents them in a novel anti-aging concentrate: PhytoCodine®. PhytoCodine® mimics the activity of matrikines that naturally occur in our skin, and has the following benefits:

    • Renewal of extracellular matrix
    • Improvement of dermal surface & texture
    • Support of facial density & elasticity
    • Rejuvenating effect of mature skin

Microfibrillated cellulose, branded as Valida, is manufactured by mechanically processing sustainably sourced cellulose wood fibres to their smallest components, while maintaining fibre length.
Suspension of this material in a water- or solvent-based solution will result in the formation of a highly interconnected 3-dimensional network capable of stabilizing all suspended particles or even oil-in-water droplets without the use of emulsifier. Due to the hydrophilic nature of cellulose, dermal
application will result in a hydrating skin feel, as opposed to a greasy, sticky or tacky skin feel when
using conventional thickeners or surfactants. Additionally, Valida shows thixotropic behavior, meaning that applying shear will significantly lower the viscosity, whereas removing shear will quickly restore viscosity. This allows for formulations to be sprayable and well-spreadable.
Microfibrillated cellulose is an excellent material to replace, or use in combination with, conventional
thickeners and surfactants in formulations, providing revolutionary possibilities in terms of formulation and end-user experience. Additionally, it is a bio-based, sustainably sourced and biodegradable material contributing to the innovating image of many companies.
